The Maranta plant is a special one. It’s also known as Prayer Plant due to its leaves moving with the sun, and at night drawing together much like two hands. These specimen in particular has green veins instead of the typical red Maranta. These plants are trailers and will grow into being very interesting hanging plants.

This plant can tolerate a shadier spot but ideally place it in a space with indirect, bright light. Direct sunlight will burn its beautiful leaves.

Naturally found growing on forest floors, it likes to be quite humid so during Summer months water it when the first inch of soil is dry. Reducing in Winter to when 2-3 inches are dry.

care tips

They prefer a warm, humid environment. Heating and fans can sometimes crisp up your leaves so try to compensate with increased humidity. A way of keeping the humidity high is to group several plants together or by sitting them on a tray of pebbles and water.

Make sure to clean all leaves with a dry cloth once in a while – dust can affect its absorption of light. During growing season you can feed your plant once a month with a balanced fertiliser.

This plant is native from Mexico, Argentina.
