HOYA CARNOSA COMPACTA
LOVING YOUR PLANT
Hoyas grow in forest gaps, so they like bright but indirect/filtered light. Direct sunlight will damage the leaves.
Hoyas don’t like to sit in water. In Summer we would suggest watering once a week, but not so much that water is being retained at the bottom of the roots. Reduce the watering in Winter to once every two weeks, or less according to room temperature.
This plant doesn’t like cold rooms. If the temperature is comfortable for you, the plant should thrive. Hoyas are native to the tropics, but we’ve found average home humidity to be fine. During Winter, central heating can reduce humidity. A way of keeping the humidity high is to group several plants together or by sitting them on a tray of pebbles and water. Misting it a few times a week with filtered, room temperature water will also help.
Make sure to clean all leaves with a dry cloth – dust can affect its absorption of light.
You can feed your plant once a month during growing season with a balanced fertiliser. Once blooming you can use a ‘bloom booster’ fertiliser. Avoid moving the Hoya when blooming as it can disturb the plant.
Not toxic for dogs and cats.
